BOMA-MD and USGBC-Detroit Regional Chapter sign Memorandum of Understanding
Detroit-September 7, 2011: The Building and Managers Association of Metro Detroit (BOMA-MD) and Detroit Regional Chapter of the US Green Building Council (DRC-USGBC) recently announced that they have signed a good-faith agreement outlining the common interests of both organizations in energy efficiency and green building practices. This Memorandum of Understanding is a non-binding acknowledgement of the intention of both organizations to work together toward improving sustainable and green practices in the regional commercial real estate industry.
BOMA-MD and DRC-USGBC will share resources and work together to impart information and cross-promote educational green building events, with the goal of increasing awareness of energy-efficiency and sustainability options for building owners and managers in Southeast Michigan.
“This is an important step forward for green building practices in Metro Detroit”, says DRC-USGBC Chairman David Norwood, “USGBC at the national level provides us with deep educational resources aimed at advancing understanding of the positive impact advancing sustainability can have on the community, and the DRC is dedicated to making that information available to anyone seeking to improve the efficiency of their building.”
We continue to strive to provide our members and the commercial real estate industry with innovative sustainability solutions,” said BOMA–MD President William Wylonis, Director of Facility Management, REDICO. “By sharing educational and benchmarking tools and promoting sustainable performance, we can transform the marketplace. We look forward to working with the USGBC Detroit Regional as we push the next phase of sustainable development and energy efficiency.”
